Restore CD/DVD drive icon using Command Prompt

This is probably the easiest way out there to restore the missing CD/DVD drive icon in Windows 10. You just need to execute a simple command in elevated Command Prompt. Here is how to do that.
Step 1:Open Command Prompt as administrator. To do so, right-click on the Start button on the taskbar, click Command Prompt (admin), and then click Yes button when you see the User Account Control prompt to open elevated Command Prompt.
Alternatively, you can type CMD in Start menu search box and then simultaneously press Ctrl+Shift+Enter keys to open Command Prompt as admin.
Step 2: In the Command Prompt, copy and paste the following command before pressing the Enter key. You can use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V keyboard shortcuts for copy and paste operations.
reg.exe add “HKLMSystemCurrentControlSetServicesatapiController0” /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001
After pasting the command, please press Enter key to execute the command.
Once the command completed, you will see “The operation completed successfully” message as shown in the picture below. You may now close the Command Prompt window. The CD/DVD drive icon should now appear in This PC and File Explorer.

Restore missing CD/DVD drive icon using third-party tool
In this method, we use a small third-party tool called DVD Drive Repair. The DVD Drive Repair utility comes in handy when the CD/DVD drive icon is missing or if the CD/DVD drive is not being detected by Windows 10. Here is how to use it.
Step 1: Visit this page and download DVD Drive Repair software. The software is free. Extract the zip file to get the executable of the software.

Step 2: Double-click on the downloaded DVD Drive Repair software to run the software. No installation is required as it’s a portable utility.

Step 3: After launching the tool, click Repair DVD Drive (Icon) button.
Step 4: Finally, restart your Windows 10 PC once to get the missing CD-DVD icon back.
